Nebraska Renaissance Festival

"Nebraska Festival Goes BIG"

-News Release-

The 9th annual NEBRASKA RENAISSANCE FAIRE & Medieval Pageant will grow in leaps and bounds, this year. It will expand to two weekends,
April 30/May 1st - May 7/8th, and the festival grounds will expand to 50% more activity area.

"We're building more seating, new shops, an additional stage, enhancements to the children's realm and putting in a permanent living history village to accommodate the increasing attendance," explains event producer Gregory Schmidt. "The artistic and technical skills of the resident crew at the Bellevue Ranch are amazing."
The location, officially known as the Bellevue Berry & Pumpkin Ranch (in Papillion) is being positioned as the area's busiest theme park. This year,
no less than five major events will bring tens of thousands of people to experience a variety of features and activities.

The Renaissance faire, serving as the initial spring fest and as this region's version of a European state fair from the 1500s, has been named
'Nebraska's Best Family Fest'.

New at this year's Nebraska Renaissance Faire will be a variety of acts and historical demonstrators who will make each weekend distinctly different.
That includes everything from comedy Shakespeare to a glass-blowing kiln team. The equestrian jousting show has been re-designed as a true stunt spectacle.
The mounted troupe, Joust Evolution, is even in the works for a network reality TV show.

Then Scottish Highland/Celtic presentations will color the second weekend, as will an indoor banquet brunch offering on Mother's Day
(with moms getting a half-priced buffet).

The near full-scale pirate ship at the head of the festival grounds is already attracting visitors from neighboring states.

"We're seeing more and more Nebraskans staying here for us, and no longer venturing down to the Kansas City Renaissance Faire," Schmidt observes".
Our Nebraska Renaissance Faire will even host a student education day for a nearby school."

The saturdays and sundays for the public will run from 11am to 6pm. With some 55 different shows, exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on activities,
the only way to fully preview it all is via the website: www.nebfaire.com.

Producer-director Gregory Schmdt, CEO of Festivals International, will be doing double-duty, this year. He'll also be on the production team for a King Arthur movie, THE WINTER PRINCE, to be shot in Iowa and Idaho. "My next goal is to bring a national TV show to the Bellevue Ranch. We're working on utilizing the
re-created cowboy & Indian village, there, as the backdrop for a modern western," he adds.

Admission to the Nebraska Renaissance Faire is $11 for adults and $6 for kids from 3 to 12.
There will be an adult 2-day pass for $15 and a 3-day pass for $18. There's also group discounts and free parking.
